With Pastures of Wonder

Readers have come away in tears, inspired and transformed

From a Publishing Professional…
I was immediately drawn into the stories and ended up reading the entire thing in a couple of sittings. The author compels the reader to keep reading. His ‘voice’ is gripping and tends to be literary. His spiritual insight is thought provoking. The purpose of the collection is clear and quite moving. I had to fish out the Kleenex more than once while reading. The stories are meant to inspire the reader to think deeply about his or her own faith, the eternal issues of suffering and God’s plan, and the peace of surrender. I believe these stories do this well. Rediscovery is captivating and is made to sparkle and hook the readers. Into the Darkness is gripping although some readers may find it disturbing. Coloring Book is a touching story. Spirits of Iwo Jima is a great story to end the book! Outstanding.     Pleasant Word Publishing Consultant

From a Leader in Healthcare…
This book touched
my heart with stories of hope and faith. Oftentimes, life brings unexpected challenges and obstacles which we have no control over. It is during these times we need to rely on a Higher Power to give us a sense of comfort as well as acceptance to move forward. Pastures of Wonder reminds us that during these times we need to look deeper into ourselves to find what has always existed but had been lost—our belief in God.     Charlene Asato-Nitta, Hospital Supervisor at Kaiser Permanente

From a Minister…
The author is a gifted writer and has explored the Christian experience through the lenses of someone who has lived in Hawaii and is familiar with life on the island of Oahu. He uses life stories to show that all believers are glad to be a rose, but many times forget that a rose bush has thorns. He points out that God will use the thorns of life to shape who HE wants us to become.     Andrew Large, Pastor of Waikiki Baptist Church

From an Avid Reader of Christian Fiction…
Pastures of Wonder is a compilation of inspiring, uplifting and enlightening short stories. Reading this book was like finding light in the dark. I laughed and I cried. We are reminded that hope, faith and love can prevail in the worst of adversity. Pastures of Wonder left me with a desire for a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Jesus.     Emilia Johnston, Christian Wife / Parent and member of Holy Trinity Church

From an Educator…
I loved this book—wonderful and thought provoking! Rediscovery and Into the Darkness are wonderful stories, which delve into the many complicated facets of faithfulness. Rediscovery is a lovely, inspired story of faith and faithfulness. It is the story of God’s ever-presence and his lack of conditions on our lives and his love. It was so nicely written—a wonderfully told tale and the ending brought a tear to my eye. I loved to watch Sophia’s journey and see the fruits of her labors. The ending is a lovely dovetailing of parental love and loyalty. I loved this story. Into the Darkness was a wrenching tale of devastating loss and faith’s role in coping with such profound loss. It was a careful and well-enunciated study in the value of complete surrender of a Christian soul to God’s tests and tribulation. It was a wonderful story of renewed hope and second chances. I really took value from the consideration of surrendering fury as a part of this horrible loss, for the purpose of elevated Christian living. It was a lovely and deeply meaningful story, which I will likely remember and ponder as I live my life.     Alison Bley, Teacher and Christian Wife / Parent

From an Entrepreneur…
Pastures of Wonder was touching throughout and very inspirational in unexpected places. All the stories were well written and easy to read but weren’t afraid to tackle the deeper issues of Christianity and life. There are many books that lose your interest, but this book was the complete opposite. After reading the first few pages, and then the first few stories, I was hooked. Like many of us, I am busy with work and family, but Pastures of Wonder has been a pleasure to read, soothing my mind and soul.     Sanjay Mirchandani, Founder of Talent HR Solutions of Hawaii / California / Nevada

From a Consultant in Higher Education…
The voice of the storyteller is that of a strong Christian. In a strong Christian, these stories will reaffirm that the foundation of faith is to believe in the impossible. For the wayward Christian, it will reignite the possibilities that faith brings. For the person searching for spirituality, God will become present and then the promise that comes with belief will be born.     Janice Takaki, Advisor at the University of Hawaii

From an Engineer…
Inspiring and thought provoking, Pastures of Wonder is a compilation of strangely familiar short stories, which might relate to people you know or to experiences you have had. Because of this familiarity, I often found myself in introspection, making these works all the more involving. The clever use of Hawaii locations and language makes it even more personal. This is not just a ‘feel good’ book. You will come away with a greater understanding of yourself and a stronger belief in your reasons to have faith.     Lance Uchida, Mechanical Engineer and member of Living Streams Christian Fellowship

From a Husband and Wife…
My wife and I had the pleasure of reading Pastures of Wonder, a spiritually uplifting book that reminded us how fortunate and blessed we all are. The stories touched our hearts and left us in tears. As a nurse and mother of a seven-year old, my wife was especially moved by the story Coloring Book. Some stories covered deeper topics but were enjoyable even for younger readers. We are looking forward to the next book in the series.     Zameer Mallal, General Manager of Roy’s Restaurant in Hawaii Kai and Lisa Mallal, Registered Nurse at Kapiolani Children’s Hospital

From a Believer in Jesus Christ…
I was honored to read Pastures of Wonder. These short stories show that even though life can be full of unfortunate events and tragedies, your belief and intimate relationship with God will give you the strength and encouragement to move on and live a fuller life. The author has a deep understanding of his faith. Rediscovery was heartbreaking. Sophia tried so hard and kept getting rejected. Even with all her discouragement, Sophia kept up her faith and dreams, and never gave up. Spirits of Iwo Jima was my favorite story because I enjoy books about history. I really felt the courage and emotion in the main character’s decision he had to make in a split second.     Chanda Kuriyama, Christian Wife / Parent

From an Artist…
The stories were excellent. The plot and character development were excellent and the descriptive language used created wonderful mental images that really drew me in as a reader. The author has a lot of talent and I thoroughly enjoyed the stories. I hope he continues writing and sharing his gift with words.     Jessica Crabtree, Founder of Anje Designs
